George William Pereira Muna, more commonly known as Bill Muna, was a noted musician and active member of the community on Guam. He was an employee of the US Naval Public Works Center (PWC) up until his medical retirement in the late 1980s.
The Bautista brothers moved to Guam from the Philippines during the early 1950s. They were and are still highly respected by other local musicians.

Jazz is a unique style of modern music. Remnants of jazz can be heard in several different styles of music. The origin of jazz is said to date back to the African-American experience that emerged in the early 20th century. Since then, it has evolved into what many now consider to be one of the most popular and innovative styles of music.
Prior to 1966 the Guam Symphonic Wind Ensemble provided Guam with the only live symphonic music performances available. This ensemble was under the direction of David Williams, a music instructor at the then College of Guam.

When Lt. Commander William Sewell served as the third American Governor of Guam beginning in 1903, he reacted poorly to the Spanish flavor of the music on island.
Seaweeds, or marine benthic algae, constitute the primary plant life in the marine waters around Guam. Seaweeds serve as the primary producers of nutrients made through the process of photosynthesis whereby carbon dioxide and water are converted to sugar and oxygen.

The notoriety of the red seaweed, Gracilaria tsudae, (Division Rhodophyta, Class Rhodophyceae, Order Gracilariales, Family Gracilariaceae), known as chaguan tasi on Guam, was triggered by the death of three Guam residents who ate the seaweed in April 1991.
