A DeOro

Art De Oro has a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Guam. He is an adjunct professor at the Guam Community College, and a small business owner. De Oro is also a US Army veteran and served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm.

His government experience is as a personnel specialist at the University of Guam, a program coordinator at the Department of Commerce and at the Guam Department of Education. He has also taught and served as an assistant principal for Guam DOE.

His writing career includes work as researcher and writer for the Hale’-ta Chamorro Heritage Books, a columnist for the Pacific Daily News, and a freelance writer for the Pacific Daily News, Marianas Business Journal, and Marine Drive Magazine.

De Oro’s community involvement includes work as a board member and mediator for Infa’Maolek Conciliation, and board member of the South Pacific Memorial Association. He also served as president of Guam Parent Teachers Association Congress, and president of the PTA’s at Agana Heights Elementary School, Untalan Middle School, and George Washington High School. He is also the chairman of the George Washington High School Class of 1977 Alumni Association.

De Oro is married to Vera Santos De Oro. They have five daughters and three grandchildren.
