Aline A. Yamashita earned her B.A. in human services and early childhood education from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts in 1978. She went on to earn a master of education at the University of Guam in 1981 and a doctorate in human development with minors in education and early childhood education from Oregon State University in 1985.
She has worked as a teacher, consultant, associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction and as deputy director of the Guam public school system, from 1978 until 1999. Yamashita was an assistant professor at the College of Education, University of Guam, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Portland. Currently, she is a program coordinator for a teacher quality enhancement grant called Project Hatsa, in partnership with CEDDERS at the University of Guam.
