Emelihter Kihleng earned a B.A. and an M.A. in English, both from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa.

Kihleng is a poet. Until recently, she lived in Kolonia, Pohnpei where she taught ESL at the College of Micronesia, though she recently moved to Guam. Her poetry has been published in various literary journals such as Chain, Boundary 2, Trout, Xcp: Cross Cultural Poetics, Bamboo Ridge and Tin fish (tinfishnet 2). Her first collection of poetry, My Urohs was published in 2008 by Kahuaomanoa Press.
